End Your Shift from Workstation

Tap End Shift in Workstation to stop the clock on your work day from your phone, tablet, or computer. Fast — usually one or two taps total.

Why it matters

You can end your shift from Workstation just like you can from the shared kiosk on the shop floor. Workstation is on your private device, so if you're stepping away — wrapping up at your desk, getting in your truck, walking to the parking lot — you don't have to go back to the kiosk to clock out. Just tap End Shift in Workstation and walk away.

The system records the same shift data either way. Kiosk or Workstation — same record, same accuracy, same supervisor review.

How it works

When you tap End Shift, FabWise checks a few things and then either ends the shift immediately or asks you a quick question:

Are you on time, early, or late? Compared to your scheduled end time and the rounding window.
Do you have an open break? If you started a break and forgot to end it, FabWise will close it for you.
Did you take a meal break? If your account requires meal breaks and there's no break on record, you'll be asked.

After you confirm whatever's asked, your shift status changes to "completed" and the supervisor review happens in the background.

What you'll see

On time (within rounding window)

No questions. Tap End Shift and you're done. If a meal break question applies, you'll see that first; otherwise the shift ends immediately and you see a confirmation that your shift is over.

Leaving early

If you tap End Shift well before your scheduled end time, you'll see a two-option prompt:

"I'm leaving now" — you're actually leaving early. FabWise records your departure at the current time. Your supervisor sees this when reviewing the shift.
"I forgot to end my shift earlier" — you actually stopped working earlier and are just now clocking out. FabWise uses your scheduled end time instead of the current time. Honest answer here saves your supervisor a correction step later.

Staying late

If you're past your scheduled end time, you'll see a similar two-option prompt:

"I worked overtime" — you stayed to finish work. Your actual end time is recorded as worked.
"I forgot to clock out" — you finished on time and just forgot. Your scheduled end time is used.

Open break

If you have a break still in progress, FabWise ends it automatically when you end your shift. You'll see a notice that your break was closed.

Meal break prompt

If your account tracks meal breaks and you didn't take one through the kiosk, you may see:

"I took my meal break" — records the break as taken
"I skipped my meal break" — records that you chose to skip it

You can only START or END a break from the shared kiosk on the shop floor. That's intentional — break time is a supervised entry point. End Shift on Workstation only confirms whether one happened during the shift.

What to do

Just end your shift when you're done. Answer any prompts honestly. The honest answer is the easy answer — your supervisor sees the scheduled time, the actual time, and what you told the system. All three.

If you forgot to end your shift earlier: End it as soon as you remember. Pick "I forgot to end my shift earlier" / "I forgot to clock out" and the system records your scheduled end time, not now. If it's the next day, tell your supervisor — they can adjust during review.

Common questions

Q: Can I end my shift from Workstation if I started it on the kiosk?
A: Yes. Either tool can start a shift and either tool can end it. The shift record is the same regardless of which one you used.

Q: I don't see an End Shift button on my dashboard.
A: You're not clocked in. The End Shift button only appears when you have an active shift. If you think you should be clocked in but the button isn't there, ask your supervisor or check the Shifts section to see if your shift was already ended.

Q: I tapped End Shift but I'm still on the dashboard with the same shift info.
A: The shift didn't end yet. Either you're still seeing the confirmation prompt (scroll down to find it), or there was a connection issue. Pull down to refresh; if the shift is still showing as active, try again.

Q: What happens to my tasks when I end my shift?
A: Any active task is closed automatically when the shift ends. The task's end time is set to your shift end time. If you want a different end time on a task, end the task first (in the Jobs section), then end the shift.

Q: I'm leaving early — will I get in trouble?
A: That's between you and your supervisor. FabWise records the facts honestly so the conversation is about reality, not about what the system says happened.

Q: What if I forget to end my shift entirely?
A: FabWise has an auto-end feature. If your shift runs past the maximum duration (set by your admin), it's automatically ended and flagged for supervisor review.
