Install the Kiosk App on an iPad

How to add the FabWise Kiosk to an iPad's home screen so it launches full-screen. Setting up a brand-new iPad? Use the full setup guide instead — this page is just the install step.

Why it matters

The kiosk runs in the browser, but workers shouldn't have to type a web address or stare at a browser bar. Installing it puts a FabWise Kiosk icon on the home screen that launches full-screen — the icon workers (or you) tap if the kiosk ever gets closed.

This page covers only the install step. If you're provisioning a new iPad from scratch — Auto-Lock, Guided Access, pairing, mounting — follow Set Up an iPad for the Kiosk instead. It walks through everything, including this step.

Takes about a minute.

What you need

• An iPad running iPadOS 16.4 or newer
• Safari (the install option lives in Safari's Share menu)
• The iPad connected to Wi-Fi

Install it

1. Open Safari on the iPad.
2. Go to https://kiosk.fabwise.app in the address bar.
3. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up, near the top of the screen.
4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
5. Tap Add in the top-right corner. A FabWise Kiosk icon appears on the home screen.

Open it to check

1. Go to the home screen and tap the FabWise Kiosk icon.
2. It should open full-screen with no Safari address bar.
3. You'll see the kiosk's device-pairing screen or, if already paired, the worker PIN screen.

If it opens inside Safari with the address bar showing, the install didn't take — repeat the steps and make sure you used Add to Home Screen.

Troubleshooting

The kiosk icon disappeared from the home screen

Repeat the install steps above. The iPad's pairing with your account is stored separately and isn't affected — once you reopen the kiosk, it picks up where it left off.

"Add to Home Screen" isn't in the Share menu

This option is only in Safari — it won't appear in Chrome or other browsers on iPad. Open the page in Safari and try again. If it's missing, scroll down in the Share sheet; it sits below the row of share targets.

It opens in Safari instead of full-screen

You may have tapped a bookmark or a regular Safari tab. Open from the home-screen icon you added, not from within Safari.
