Install the Kiosk App on an Android Tablet

How to add the FabWise Kiosk to an Android tablet's home screen so it launches full-screen. Setting up a brand-new tablet? Use the full setup guide instead — this page is just the install step.

Why it matters

The kiosk runs in the browser, but workers shouldn't have to type a web address or stare at a browser bar. Installing it puts a FabWise Kiosk icon on the home screen that launches full-screen — the icon workers (or you) tap if the kiosk ever gets closed.

This page covers only the install step. If you're provisioning a new tablet from scratch — Wi-Fi, stay-awake settings, pairing, mounting — follow Set Up an Android Tablet for the Kiosk instead. It walks through everything, including this step.

Takes about a minute.

What you need

• An Android tablet running Android 10 or newer
• Chrome (pre-installed on most Android tablets)
• The tablet connected to Wi-Fi

Install it

1. Open Chrome on the tablet.
2. Go to https://kiosk.fabwise.app in the address bar.
3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
4. Tap Install app. (On older Android versions it's labeled Add to Home screen.)
5. Confirm. Chrome drops a FabWise Kiosk icon on the home screen.

Open it to check

1. Go to the home screen and tap the FabWise Kiosk icon.
2. It should open full-screen with no Chrome address bar.
3. You'll see the kiosk's device-pairing screen or, if already paired, the worker PIN screen.

If it opens with a browser address bar still showing, the install didn't take — repeat the steps and make sure you tapped Install app, not Bookmark.

Troubleshooting

The kiosk icon disappeared from the home screen

Repeat the install steps above. The tablet's pairing with your account is stored separately and isn't affected — once you reopen the kiosk, it picks up where it left off.

"Install app" isn't in the menu

Make sure you're in Chrome and the page finished loading. Some Android versions label it Add to Home screen — same thing.

It opens in a browser tab instead of full-screen

You added a bookmark instead of installing the app. Remove the bookmark and repeat the steps, choosing Install app.
